Data Issues capture one of two broad categories of work conducted by the NROC Ocean Planning Committee (see Planning Issues for the other category).
Data Issues involve engaging stakeholders in the development of peer-reviewed geospatial data products characterizing human activities and ecological and cultural resources and their change over time. This includes:
- Developing, implementing, and updating the annual Northeast Ocean Data Portal Work Plan
- Establishing work groups to guide the development of data products for specific topics (e.g., Marine Life, Seafloor Habitat, Commercial Fisheries, Blue Carbon)
- Coordinating data work groups and data development with related NROC and partner activities
