A Northeast Regional Planning Body (NE RPB) Natural Resources Public Workshop and fourth NE RPB meeting took place on June 25-26, 2014 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The workshop and meeting both took place at The Charles Hotel located at 1 Bennett Street in Cambridge.
On June 26th, the Northeast Regional Planning Body held its fourth meeting. During this meeting, the RPB and staff provided an update on ongoing planning activities, including efforts to identify options for interagency coordination and the use of regional data under the ocean planning goal “Effective Decision Making.” At this meeting, the RPB considered options for technical and stakeholder input into ocean planning decisions as outlined in the Advisory Functions Options document (PDF)(4pp, 220k). Public participants were given opportunities to comment on RPB proceedings and decisions both at the meeting as well as prior to it via the online comment portal.
Inaugural Northeast RPB Meeting: Develop common understanding about the RPB; provide context and lay foundation of regional ocean planning; engage stakeholders and the public, discuss initial focus.
Northeast RPB Meeting: Northeast RPB Meeting: Identify draft goals for regional ocean planning and mechanisms for receiving public input about those draft goals; provide opportunities for public input about topics under consideration.
Public Comment Meetings: Ten public meetings throughout New England to discuss draft regional ocean planning goals.
Sep. 30–Throughout its Fall Public Meeting Series, the RPB will be seeking feedback and discussion on options under the Effective Decision Making goal and the Healthy Ocean and Coastal Ecosystems goal of the Framework of Ocean Planning in the Northeastern United States. In addition to the meetings, comments will also be accepted online at the Public Comment Portal.
